About Thani Oruvan
Thani Oruvan from 2015 tracks cop Mithran hunting scientist Siddharth in Chennai. Jayam Ravi and Arvind Swamy lead the Tamil original with a long cat and mouse build. Dhruva from 2016 remakes the same hunt in Telugu with Ram Charan and Arvind Swamy returning as the villain.
Both share the cop versus genius shape with new police teams. Watch the Tamil original first, then the Telugu version to compare chases. The two share no continuity beyond the remake link. New viewers can start with the first entry for the cleanest introduction to the cast and rules.
Good to know
Release order works as original then remake with no shared timeline. Thani Oruvan runs about 159 minutes around Chennai medical scams. Dhruva runs about 165 minutes with the same villain actor in a new force. Both close the Mithran arc alone, so neither spoils beyond the known hunt shape. Start with 2015 for the first staging, then 2016 for the Telugu take. No sequel links either film.
