About Crank
Crank follows hitman Chev Chelios, injected with a poison that kills him if his heart rate drops, forcing a real time rampage across Los Angeles. High Voltage picks up immediately after the first film's fall, giving Chev an artificial heart that needs electric shocks instead of adrenaline.
Watch in release order. The second film starts minutes after the first ends and assumes you know Chev, Verona and the setup, so there is no alternative sequence. Together they form one continuous two film chase shot in the same frenetic style.
Good to know
A third film has been discussed by the directors for years but never entered production, so the duology stands complete. Both films run under 100 minutes and were shot cheap and fast, which is the whole aesthetic. The tone is deliberately extreme throughout, so the first film's content warnings cover the second as well.
