About The Crazies
The Crazies starts with George Romero's 1973 film about the Trixie bioweapon leaking into Evans City water and the Army locking the town down. It runs 103 minutes and splits time between infected families and cold officials. Breck Eisner remade it February 26, 2010 with Timothy Olyphant as the sheriff of Ogden Marsh.
The remake keeps the plane crash and quarantine but centers on four survivors escaping. Romero executive produced the remake. No sequel to either version has been announced, so the two films are the full set and each stands alone.
Good to know
Watch the 2010 remake first if you want faster pacing and clearer action, then the 1973 original for the political edge. The original spends more time on the military command than on chases. The remake grossed 54 million on a 20 million budget and earned stronger reviews. Both run under two hours and pair well as a double feature.
