About The Mist

The Mist adapts Stephen King's 1980 novella about a strange fog with creatures trapping people inside. Frank Darabont directed the film version released November 21, 2007 with Thomas Jane in a grocery store siege and a famously bleak ending. The Spike TV series ran ten episodes from June 22 to August 24, 2017.

The series follows new families in Bridgeville, Maine with no shared characters to the film. Spike cancelled it September 27, 2017 after one season. Both stand alone, so order comes down to taste rather than plot links.

Good to know

Watch the 2007 film first for the tightest version and the ending everyone argues about. The 2017 series expands the town and the mist rules but ends on a cliffhanger that will not resolve. The film runs 126 minutes and keeps the grocery store focus. The series runs about seven hours total. Read the novella after for King's original ambiguous close.
