About The Rescuers
The Rescuers is a two film Disney animation series about the Rescue Aid Society, a mouse organization that saves kidnapped children. The Rescuers from 1977 sends Bernard and Bianca to rescue Penny from the treasure hunting Madame Medusa in the bayou. The Rescuers Down Under from 1990 flies the pair to Australia to save Cody from the poacher McLeach.
The sequel reuses the heroes with a new child and a bigger aerial scale, so release order is the viewing order. Watch the 1977 original before the 1990 follow up for Bernard and Bianca's partnership to track. The pair plays as two standalone rescues with one continuing duo.
Good to know
Watch the 1977 film before The Rescuers Down Under from 1990, since Bernard and Bianca's partnership carries over. Each rescue stands alone, so order matters for character growth rather than plot. The sequel's flying sequences build on the original's boat chase energy. Two films in release order complete the Disney duology, with no shorts required between them.
