About The Ring
The American Ring run starts with Gore Verbinski's 2002 remake about Rachel Keller and the seven-day tape, continues with Ring Two in 2005 as Rachel flees to Oregon with Aidan, and closes with Rings in 2017 about Julia and the movie-within-a-movie. The Rings short from 2005 bridges the second and third films. Release order is story order throughout this branch.
Ringu from 1998 is the Japanese original that started everything, followed by its own sequels, prequel Ring 0 and the Spiral timeline films through Sadako DX plus the Sadako vs Kayako crossover. Watch the American trilogy first as one branch, then the Japanese run separately. The two branches share the tape idea but no characters.

The American films tell Rachel's complete story in three steps plus the bridge short, while the Japanese run sprawls across trilogies that contradict each other by design.
