About The Stand
The Stand adapts King's plague epic twice as closed miniseries. The 1994 ABC version runs four episodes and 366 minutes with the expanded-novel material, ending on the Vegas confrontation.
The 2020 Paramount+ version runs nine episodes with a new King coda finale written for the show. Both tell the same Captain Trips-to-Boulder survival story with different casts and runtimes. Either order works, though release order shows the 1990 expanded-novel material first. No further season exists for either telling.
Good to know
The two miniseries are separate adaptations, not two seasons of one show, so treat them as alternate tellings. The 2020 version adds a new finale chapter beyond the novel. Both are complete limited runs with no continuation. Start with 1994 for the classic telling or 2020 for the modern cast and coda.
