About The Toxic Avenger
The Toxic Avenger from April 4, 1984 turns janitor Melvin Ferd into Toxie after a toxic waste fall in Tromaville. Made for about 500,000 dollars by Troma, it grew through midnight shows at Bleecker Street Cinema. Parts II and III both arrived in 1989 after one long shoot was split in two, with Toxie in Japan and then fighting the Devil for his soul.
Citizen Toxie: The Toxic Avenger IV from 2000 pits Toxie against his Noxious Offender double. The reboot premiered at Fantastic Fest on September 21, 2023 with Peter Dinklage as Winston Gooze and reached U.S. theaters August 29, 2025 through Cineverse. The Toxic Crusaders cartoon and stage show stay outside the film list.
Good to know
Release order is story order for the Troma four, so keep them together. Parts II and III were filmed as one block, which explains the shared look and quick turnaround. The 2023 reboot is a separate continuity with Winston Gooze instead of Melvin, so watch it last or alone. Its year is listed as 2025 here for the wide release, after the 2023 festival premiere. No sixth film has been announced.
