About 1899
1899 follows Maura Franklin aboard the Kerberos in October 1899, bound from London to New York. Episode 1 sets the ship and the distress call from the missing Prometheus. Episodes 2 to 4 add a boy, a triangle mark and repeating ship faults.
Episodes 5 to 7 collapse cabins and memories as passengers repeat actions. Episode 8 reframes the voyage as a simulation with a new ship name. Creators Jantje Friese and Baran bo Odar planned more seasons, but Netflix cancelled after one run in January 2023. Watch 1 through 8 in order.
Good to know
Watch episodes 1 through 8 in order. The visions repeat on purpose, so out of order viewing breaks the clue chain. The multilingual cast speaks as written, so keep subtitles on for full lines. No second season is coming after the January 2023 cancellation, so the eight stand as a finished loop with an open edge.
