Cloverfield follows friends filming a monster attack on New York, shot as found footage from one night. 10 Cloverfield Lane follows Michelle locked in a bunker by Howard, with the monster connection only landing at the end.
The Cloverfield Paradox follows a station crew whose experiment cracks realities and explains how the monsters reach Earth. Release order is the recommended path. Chronological order starts with Paradox as the cause, but it spoils the mystery that makes the first two films work, so save it for second viewing.
Good to know
Release order preserves the reveals, because Cloverfield hides its monster and Lane hides its world until the final act. Paradox was built to connect them after the fact, and watching it first turns both mysteries into footnotes. A direct Cloverfield sequel has been discussed but has no date. Watch release first, chronological only on rewatch.
