About The Beverly Hillbillies

The Beverly Hillbillies opened September 1962 on CBS about the Clampett family moving to Beverly Hills on oil money with Jed leading. Seasons 1 through 3 ran 34 to 36 episodes each in black and white with mansion plots.

Seasons 4 through 9 ran 24 to 32 each to March 1971 when the rural purge cancelled it, with color from season 4 on and Jethro schemes growing. Return of the Beverly Hillbillies aired in 1981 as a reunion film, with a 1993 theatrical film rebooting the setup. A retrospective special aired in 1993 as well.

Good to know

Watch seasons 1 through 9 in air order from start to finish. The mansion and bank plots build across years, so skipping breaks running gags badly. The black and white to color switch in season 4 changes the look only. The 1981 and 1993 films work as extras after, since both reset rather than continue tightly.
