About Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Buffy the Vampire Slayer aired 144 episodes over seven seasons, from March 10, 1997 to May 20, 2003, the first five seasons on The WB and the last two on UPN. Angel spun off from it and aired 110 episodes across five seasons, from October 5, 1999 to May 19, 2004 on The WB.
From Buffy season 4 onward the two shared a night, Buffy at 8 p.m. and Angel at 9 p.m. on Tuesdays, both premiering October 5, 1999. Watching them interleaved keeps hand-off episodes in their real order, including Buffy's 'Pangs' and Angel's 'I Will Remember You,' which both aired November 23, 1999.
Good to know
Buffy ends May 20, 2003 and Angel runs almost a year longer, closing May 19, 2004, so the combined list finishes with a stretch where Angel stands alone. The 1992 movie is a separate continuity with a different cast and belongs on neither list. A revival called Buffy: New Sunnydale was cancelled in March 2026, while new Buffy and Angel comics from Dynamite began in July and August 2026.
