About Dark Matter
Dark Matter follows physicist Jason Dessen as he is pulled into parallel lives where his marriage and career took other paths. Season 1 from 2024 runs 9 episodes on the abduction and the box rules. Season 2 from August 2026 runs 10 weekly episodes on the wider multiverse fallout.
Watch season 1 then season 2. The box logic and family stakes stack directly, so the second run assumes you know the variants. Creator Blake Crouch mapped a three season arc, but Apple has not ordered season 3 yet, so season 2 is the latest chapter.
Good to know
Release order matches story order with no anthology breaks to reorder across the two runs. Season 1 plays as a closed loop that season 2 reopens with wider variants, which makes skipping risky for new viewers. With season 3 not yet ordered, treat the 2026 run as ongoing rather than a finale and check back once Apple decides.
