About Dexter
Dexter follows Dexter Morgan, a Miami blood-spatter analyst who kills other killers under a code taught by his adoptive father Harry. The original Showtime run lasted eight seasons from 2006 to 2013, ending with a finale that split fans down the middle.
New Blood (2021) revived Dexter in upstate New York for ten episodes. Original Sin (2024) rewinds to 1991 Miami with Patrick Gibson as the young Dexter, while Resurrection (2025) picks up weeks after New Blood with Michael C. Hall back on screen. Good to know
Original Sin premiered December 13, 2024 and closed its ten-episode run in February 2025. It was renewed for a second season in April 2025, then cancelled that August after the Skydance merger put new leadership in charge, so it stands as a single season. Resurrection season 1 ran July 11 to September 5, 2025 and was renewed; season 2 premieres October 30, 2026. Scripts for a Trinity Killer prequel exist with John Lithgow attached to narrate, but Paramount has not ordered it and showrunner Clyde Phillips has called it backburnered.
