About Doctor Foster
Doctor Foster is Mike Bartlett BBC psychological thriller with Suranne Jones as GP Gemma Foster, inspired by Medea. Series one aired five episodes from September 9 2015 as Gemma suspects husband Simon with Kate, winning Jones the BAFTA for leading actress. Series two aired five episodes from September 5 2017, two years later in story as Simon returns and Tom is caught between.
The run totals ten hours plus the Life spinoff from 2020 with Anna Baker. Watch series one then series two in order, since the second year assumes the exposure fallout and custody fractures from the first.
Good to know
There is no separate chronological order worth listing. The two series from 2015 to 2017 follow Gemma forward with a two year jump that matches air gap, so release order and story order are the same list. The Life spinoff follows Anna after Foster and can be watched after without changing this order.
