About Gilligan's Island

Gilligan's Island ran 98 episodes over three seasons on CBS, ending in April 1967 with the crew still stranded. The first season aired in black and white, the next two in color. Filmation then remade the premise as The New Adventures of Gilligan on ABC from 1974 to 1977.

Three TV films closed the loop: Rescue from Gilligan's Island in 1978, The Castaways in 1979, and the Harlem Globetrotters film in 1981. Gilligan's Planet in 1982 sent the crew to space for 13 episodes, and a 2001 docudrama covered the making of the show.

Good to know

Watch the three live action seasons first, then the reunion films in order. The two animated series retell the stranded setup with different rules, so they work as optional branches after the original. Tina Louise skipped all three reunion films, with Judith Baldwin and Constance Forslund stepping in as Ginger. No revival has filmed.
