About Girlfriend Experience
The Girlfriend Experience premiered in 2016 on Starz from Lodge Kerrigan and Amy Seimetz, expanding the 2009 film. Season 1 follows law student Christine Reade as she enters high end escort work in Chicago. Season 2 from 2017 splits into two strands with Erica Myles managing escorts in Washington and Anna Garner helping a witness enter protection.
Season 3 from 2021 moves to London with Iris, a neuroscience researcher who joins an escort service to study desire. The run closed in 2021 with no fourth season ordered, so the three seasons form a complete set. Watch in broadcast order since each chapter stands alone but later seasons assume you know the tone.
Good to know
Watch seasons 1 through 3 in order. You can skip around because leads and cities reset, but broadcast order keeps the shift from legal thriller to political thriller to tech study clear. Each season runs 10 or 11 episodes of about half an hour. Treat the 2021 London run as the end point, since Starz has not ordered more and the creators moved to other work.
