About Godfather of Harlem
Godfather of Harlem follows Bumpy Johnson after prison as he retakes Harlem from the Genovese family while crossing paths with Malcolm X and Adam Clayton Powell. Season one follows club control, heroin routes and fragile deals with Chin Gigante. Season two widens to family splits, FBI pressure and the cost of power on lovers and daughters.
Season three pushes into 1960s change with new rivals, label money and political heat closing around Bumpy. Epix aired season one in 2019, season two in 2021 and season three in 2023 for 30 episodes with Forest Whitaker leading. Watch seasons one through three in order since truces, deaths and alliances all carry forward.
Good to know
Watch seasons one through three in broadcast order because mob deals, political ties and family fallout build across years. The three seasons form a clear arc from return to reckoning, with music and history woven in. Expect strong violence, period Harlem detail and real figures beside Bumpy. The later wars assume full knowledge of who broke each earlier truce.
