About Good Times
Good Times aired on CBS from February 1974 to August 1979 for six seasons and 133 episodes. It follows Florida Evans raising J.J., Thelma and Michael in Chicago's Cabrini-Green with neighbor Willona beside them. James Evans dies off screen after season three when John Amos left, reshaping the household for the back half.
Netflix's 2024 animated revival retells the premise with new voices in its own continuity. The original closed in 1979 with the family leaving the projects, and no live revival has been ordered beyond the animated take.
