About Madam Secretary
Madam Secretary follows Elizabeth McCord balancing diplomacy and family on CBS across a full rise. Seasons 1 through 5 from 2014 to 2019 run full State Department years with 110 episodes building toward the presidency. Season 6 ran 10 episodes from October 2019 covering the first presidential term to the Leaving the Station finale.
Barbara Hall created the run with Tea Leoni and Tim Daly. Work and home plots interlock every season. The show ends with McCord in office, so later seasons assume the full rise.
Good to know
Watch seasons 1 through 6 in order, since the Dalton succession and presidency build across years directly. The show is TV-PG political drama with family subplots throughout. Henry's trajectory mirrors Elizabeth's rise across all six years. The December 2019 finale closed the term, and no revival has aired.
