About Manhunt
Manhunt follows Secretary of War Edwin Stanton directing the hunt for John Wilkes Booth after the April 1865 Ford's Theatre shooting. Episode 1 stages the murder, escape with David Herold and Stanton locking down Washington. Episodes 2 and 3 follow Booth's broken leg, Dr. Mudd's splint, swamp guides and Mary Surratt's boarding house arrests.
Episodes 4 and 5 widen to Confederate couriers, Andrew Johnson's obstruction and Stanton guarding Reconstruction plans. Episodes 6 and 7 close with the Potomac crossing, Garrett's Virginia farm fire, Booth's death and the conspirator trial.
