About NCIS: Origins
NCIS Origins rewinds to 1991 Camp Pendleton with young Gibbs under Mike Franks. Season 1 ran 18 episodes October 14, 2024 to April 28, 2025 on CBS, closing on the Lala case. Season 2 ran 18 October 14, 2025 to May 5, 2026. Season 3 premiered October 6, 2026 with a 10 episode order and Mark Harmon narrating every episode.
CBS renewed through season 3 in January 2026. The mothership needs no viewing, though Gibbs lore lands harder with it. Watch the seasons straight since the Franks team and the season long mystery carry across.
Good to know
Release order is the story order. The NIS team bonds and the season mysteries stack across years, so the October 2026 run assumes the first 36 episodes. The mothership shares crossovers but needs no prior viewing. Season 3 airs now with remaining episodes unreleased, so counts stay TBA until CBS confirms them.
