About Supernatural
Supernatural premiered on The WB on September 13, 2005 and ran fifteen seasons and 327 episodes, ending on November 19, 2020 on The CW. Sam and Dean Winchester worked through cases across the country, and the show outlasted every network it aired on.
The Winchesters is a prequel set in the 1970s, following young John Winchester and Mary Campbell. It aired thirteen episodes from October 11, 2022 to March 7, 2023 before being cancelled. Two earlier backdoor pilots, Bloodlines in 2014 and Wayward Sisters in 2018, were tested as possible spin-offs and never became series.
Good to know
Nothing points to a live-action continuation as of September 2026. The story continues in print: a Wayward Special one-shot went on sale September 2, 2026, and two comic series, Supernatural: Dean Winchester and Supernatural: Sam Winchester, were announced in July 2026. Treat The Winchesters as an optional side story, since the original show already treats those early years as history and starting with it removes the surprise.
