About The Boys
The Boys is five seasons and forty episodes, running from July 26, 2019 to the series finale on May 20, 2026. Two spin-offs fill the gaps. The Boys Presents: Diabolical is eight animated shorts, all released at once on March 4, 2022, and Gen V is two seasons about students at a supe college, in 2023 and 2025.
There is one order to watch them in. Gen V season 1 sits between seasons 3 and 4 of the main show, its second season feeds into season 5, and Diabolical dropped between seasons 2 and 3 while live-action production was stalled. Watch everything as it arrived and no ending gets spoiled. Skip Diabolical and you lose nothing you need.
Good to know
Eric Kripke counts only three of the eight Diabolical shorts as canon with the show, including the finale that feeds into season 3, so treat the rest as standalone fun. Gen V was cancelled in April 2026 after two seasons, so season 2 is where that story stops. Vought Rising, a prequel set in the 1950s with Jensen Ackles as Soldier Boy, is dated for 2027 and comes after everything listed above.
