About The Idol
The Idol follows pop star Jocelyn as she attempts a comeback after a breakdown and falls under the influence of club owner Tedros. Lily-Rose Depp and Abel Tesfaye lead a cast of label staff and hangers-on. The HBO series aired five episodes in 2023 before cancellation.
Early episodes set up the tour rehearsals and the leaked photo scandal. Middle chapters move into the mansion takeover and the rewritten single sessions. The finale stages the tour launch that decides Jocelyn's control. The plot escalates through manipulation tactics introduced earlier, so skipping ahead hides how consent erodes across the week.
Good to know
Watch episodes one through five in order. The season tells one continuous story with no standalone entries. Later episodes reuse studio staff and songs without reintroducing them. There is no alternate order, since the comeback timeline only moves forward. New viewers should know the series ends abruptly due to cancellation rather than a planned close.
