About The L Word
The L Word ran six Showtime seasons from 2004 to 2009 following Bette, Tina, Shane and Alice through Los Angeles, totaling 71 episodes. Generation Q revived the continuity a decade later for three seasons from 2019 to 2023 with the original leads returning alongside a new generation.
Watch the original six seasons before the three sequel seasons since the returning characters carry their history. Generation Q was cancelled in 2023 and pulled from platforms, while a New York reboot remained only in script stages as of 2026.
Good to know
Release order matches the decade jumped story order, so no alternate list is needed. The original runs fourteen down to eight episodes per season, with the sequel at eight then ten and ten. Reality spinoffs sit outside the scripted continuity and stay out of this list for clarity and length here overall.
