About The Serpent Queen
The Serpent Queen follows Catherine de Medici in 2022 across eight episodes from Italian ward to French court. Early episodes cover the marriage to Henri and the Diane rivalry with Rahima hearing the tale.
Season 2 from 2024 meets Elizabeth I across eight episodes into the war turn. Watch season 1 first, then season 2. The flashback frame only pays off in order, since Catherine narrates her own rise. Starz cancelled the run in October 2024 after two seasons. Morton and Minnie Driver face off in season 2.
Good to know
Watch seasons 1 and 2 in order. The show adapts the Leonie Frieda biography with a present day servant frame that reframes each episode. A Queen Elizabeth I spinoff with Minnie Driver was reported in development after the cancellation. No third season was ordered, so the sixteen episodes stand as the run.
