About The Shield

The Shield aired on FX from March 2002 to November 2008 with 88 episodes across seven seasons. It follows Vic Mackey's Strike Team policing Farmington while stealing from criminals, opening with Vic killing a fellow officer to protect the crew. The money-train robbery in season five turns the team against itself through Armenians, the Mexican cartel and Internal Affairs.

Creator Shawn Ryan ended it by plan with Vic alone at a desk job and Shane's family tragedy settled. No revival has been ordered, leaving the finale ranked among the most deliberate endings in cable drama rather than a cancellation stop.

Good to know

Watch one through seven in broadcast order with no skipping, since the Strike Team lies compound every season. The season five arrival of Jon Kavanaugh reframes the pilot shooting, so that stretch lands hardest with the early years fresh. Shane's choices in the final episodes divide fans, but they close threads running since the money train.
