About The Son
The Son adapts Philipp Meyer novel about Eli McCullough across 1849 Comanche capture and 1915 Texas oil empire. Season 1 aired April to June 2017 for 10 episodes with Pierce Brosnan as Eli, Jacob Lofland as young Eli and Zahn McClarnon as Toshaway. Season 2 aired April to June 2019 for 10 episodes, closing cattle to oil transition with Pete and Jeannie threads.
AMC renewed after season 1 and closed after season 2 as planned. The show cuts between youth indoctrination and old empire defense each hour, so both timelines need the full run to land the land and family choices.
Good to know
Broadcast order is the intended dual timeline cut, with 1849 and 1915 beats answering each other across Texas decades fully. Do not watch one century straight through first, since reveals are timed across cuts. The 2019 finale resolves the Meyer arc, with no third season ordered after the planned close.
