About Vinyl

Vinyl follows Richie Finestra, a 1970s record executive trying to sell his label while chasing new punk sounds. Bobby Cannavale leads A and R staff through clubs, drugs and mob debts. HBO aired ten episodes in 2016 from Scorsese and Jagger.

Early episodes establish the sale collapse and the Velvet Underground past. Middle chapters add the Nasty Bits management and the police payoff threads. Later episodes stage the building fire and the decision that ends the run. The music cues reuse earlier riffs without re-explaining, so order preserves discovery.

Good to know

Watch episodes one through ten in order. The label crisis moves week by week in 1973, with flashbacks placed for reveals. There is no alternate order, since the sale only fails once. New viewers should expect an abrupt end due to cancellation rather than a planned close, but the ten episodes form a complete rise-and-fall portrait.
