About Virgin River
Virgin River adapts Robyn Carr's novels as nurse Mel moves to northern California and meets Jack. Seasons 1 through 3 from 2019 to 2021 build the town and the grief arcs. Seasons 4 and 5 from 2022 to 2023 move through engagement turbulence, and season 6 from 2024 closes the long awaited wedding.
Season 7 arrived in 2026 with married life stories, and Netflix renewed an eighth season of ten episodes in July 2025 as its longest running drama. Sue Tenney and Patrick Sean Smith run the series. Each finale's cliffhanger feeds the next premiere, so skipping breaks the romance logic.
Good to know
Watch seasons 1 through 7 in order before the eighth, since pregnancies, fires and custody fights compound yearly without reset. The show is cozy romance with heavy melodrama rather than procedural cases. Jack and Mel's wedding only lands after six years of buildup. Season 8 is renewed with no premiere date yet, so its entry stays yearless until Netflix sets one.
