About Wings
Wings opened April 19, 1990 on NBC with six episodes about rival brothers Joe and Brian Hackett running Sandpiper Air on Nantucket. Season 2 ran 22 episodes from fall 1990, with seasons 3 and 4 at 22 each through 1993 and steady ratings.
Season 5 ran 24 episodes, season 6 ran 26, and seasons 7 and 8 ran 26 and 24 through May 21, 1997. Created by the Cheers team of Charles, Burrows and Charles, it shares the universe with Cheers and Frasier but needs no crossover homework. No revival has filmed.
Good to know
Watch seasons 1 through 8 in air order without skipping. The brother rivalry and Helen counter plots build year to year, so skipping breaks later payoffs. Cheers cameos pop up but never carry plot, which means Wings stands alone fully. The finale closes the airport stories cleanly with no cliffhanger left open.
