About Ajin: Demi-Human
Kei Nagai dies in a traffic accident, revives on the spot and learns he is an Ajin, an immortal hunted by both the government and the hat-wearing terrorist Sato. Polygon Pictures told that story twice: as a three-film series from November 2015 to September 2016 and as two 13-episode TV seasons across 2016.
The films condense the same arc the series expands, so new viewers should pick one path and treat the other as a recap. The TV version carries more ensemble detail, which makes seasons 1 and 2 the recommended core, with the three manga-bundled OAD side stories as optional extras.
Good to know
Film 1 (Shodo, November 27 2015) compresses the story opening, while films 2 and 3 (Shototsu, May 6 2016; Shogeki, September 23 2016) track the same plot as the TV run rather than continuing past it. The three OADs shipped with manga volumes 8, 9 and 10 between May 2016 and April 2017. A live-action film from September 2017 exists but sits outside this anime list. The manga ended in February 2021 at 17 volumes and no new anime had been announced as of September 2026.
