About Akiyuki Shinbo
Akiyuki Shinbo led Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei in 2007 with Shaft gags over despair. Bakemonogatari followed in 2009 starting the long Monogatari run with Senjougahara. Puella Magi Madoka Magica arrived in 2011 rewriting magical girls with Gen Urobuchi.
Nisemonogatari continued in 2012, Monogatari Second Season in 2013 widened the cast arcs, and March Comes in Like a Lion in 2016 slowed into shogi and grief. The shows share head tilts and text cards but no plot, so release order teaches the style steps.
Good to know
Watch oldest to newest since Shaft tricks build show by show. Bakemonogatari first unlocks the later Monogatari seasons well. Madoka stands apart as the twelve episode peak to give full focus here. March Comes closes the run as the calm shogi tale. No next series has a date yet, so the 2016 shogi run stays last until one is announced.
