About Bakuman

Bakuman adapts the Death Note duo's manga about Mashiro and Takagi chasing Jump serialization as Ashirogi Muto. Season one aired 25 episodes from 2010 to 2011 with the debut race, season two aired 25 from 2011 to 2012 around the anime adaptation, and season three aired 25 from 2012 to 2013 closing the Reversi and marriage arcs.

The manga finished with 20 volumes in 2012, so the anime covers the complete story with no gaps. Two live-action drama specials and the 2015 film retell the early chapters in condensed form, working as alternates after the anime rather than continuations.

Good to know

Watch seasons one through three in broadcast order, since the rankings and the editor battles assume full history. The show teaches Jump's serialization system as it goes, so no manga background is needed. The live-action film compresses years into hours, best saved for after the anime as a comparison rather than a start.
