About Future GPX Cyber Formula

Future GPX Cyber Formula is the definitive racing anime: Hayato Kazami inherits the AI car Asurada and climbs the Formula ranks across a 37-episode TV series (1991) and four OVA continuations. Double One (1992) and Zero (1994) raise the stakes, Saga (1996) rebuilds the rivalry, and Sin (1998) closes it.

Watch the TV series first, then the OVAs in release order: each assumes the last and the rivalries compound across a decade of story time. The show balances engineering detail with melodrama, which is why it outlasted every contemporary. The 1991 series looks its age; the OVAs grow sleeker with each entry.

Good to know

The OVAs total 27 episodes across the four series (6, 8, 8 and 5), so the full run is substantial but finite. Sin ends the story definitively, and no continuation has followed since 1998. The games, mostly on PlayStation hardware, retell the anime arcs and are extras. Streaming availability is patchy outside Japan, so physical media or regional services may be needed.
