About D.Gray-man
D.Gray-man follows Allen Walker with the Black Order fighting Akuma made by the Millennium Earl. The original series runs 103 episodes from 2006 to 2008 through the Edo and Noah arcs with anime filler late. Hallow from 2016 runs 13 episodes and continues the manga Alma Karma arc with a new cast and studio.
Watch the original first since Hallow assumes Allen, Lenalee, Kanda and Link states. Hallow does not remake the start, so skipping to 2016 loses the Order build. The manga by Katsura Hoshino continues irregularly past Hallow, with no further anime dated since 2016.
Good to know
Release order is story order with one continuation. The original covers the early manga plus filler, while Hallow jumps to later chapters with recast voices and cleaner pacing. New viewers should take the original through episode 51 before deciding, since early arcs set Innocence rules. Treat Hallow as the current endpoint rather than a reboot, and read the manga for chapters beyond it.
