About Eminence in Shadow
Eminence in Shadow follows Cid Kagenou playing a background mob while leading Shadow Garden against the Cult of Diablos. Season 1 from 2022 runs 20 episodes through Alexia kidnapping and Bushin Festival arcs. Season 2 from 2023 runs 12 episodes through Oriana and the Lawless City Red Moon run.
Watch season 1 first since Garden members, artifacts and Beatrix stakes carry straight into season 2. The light novels and manga run ahead, so readers can continue past the Oriana close. A Lost Echoes film has been announced as the next anime step with no firm date set, which keeps the run open.
Good to know
Release order matches story order with no films counted yet. Season 1 sets the chuuni rules and Garden ranks that season 2 riffs on, so do not skip to the shorter second year first. The show replays events from Cid clueless view, which lands better once the Garden view is set. Treat season 2 as latest rather than final while the film stays undated.
