About Excel Saga
Excel Saga runs twenty six episodes with Excel Kobayashi and Hyatt Mikawa failing Il Palazzo missions under Pedro and Nabeshin gags. Directed by Shinichi Watanabe, each episode spoofs a genre from baseball to dating sims while continuing ACROSS city takeover threads.
The run aired October 1999 to March 2000 on TV Tokyo with the finale going OVA only for excess. Watch episodes one through twenty six in broadcast order, since Excel death gags and Hyatt blood loss recur toward the finale. The manga continues beyond with different beats but stays optional after TV.
Good to know
Broadcast order is the intended order since genre parodies assume ACROSS setup. Start at episode one for Excel employment setup that powers later mission fails. The OVA finale pays off Pedro and Nabeshin threads together, so sequential viewing matters. As a completed single run, this one entry is the full guide.
