About Food Wars
Food Wars adapts Yuto Tsukuda's manga about Soma Yukihira fighting cooking battles called shokugeki at Totsuki Academy. Season one aired 2015 with 24 episodes covering the training camp. Season two aired 2016 with the Autumn Elections. Season three split across 2017 and 2018 with the Moon Festival and Central arc. Season four aired late 2019 with the Regiment de Cuisine, and season five aired 2020 with BLUE.
The manga finished in 2019 with 36 volumes, and the anime closed in 2020 with no sequel announced. Five OVAs released between 2016 and 2018 adapt bonus chapters and fit as side dishes rather than main courses.
Good to know
Watch seasons one through five in broadcast order, since eliminations and council seats carry directly. The third season splits into two cours that belong together, so do not stop between them. OVAs can be watched after their matching seasons or saved for last, since none of them affect the main tournament brackets.
