About Grendizer
UFO Robot Grendizer ran 74 episodes from October 5, 1975 to February 27, 1977 as the Mazinger trilogy closer with Duke Fleed defending Earth from Vega. Films like Grendizer vs Great Mazinger recut TV arcs. The manga by Go Nagai runs alongside.
Grendizer U aired 13 episodes in 2024 as a reboot with new mecha designs and a reworked arrival. No second U season has been dated. The original remains the complete classic run with Koji Kabuto supporting. Koji support links it to Mazinger lore for longtime fans.
Good to know
Original first is the rule, since U assumes you know the Vega war shape. The crossover films are optional recaps that can be skipped if you watch the 74 episodes. U stands alone after, so reboot-only viewers lose nothing by starting there. With the classic finished in 1977 and U in 2024, this is a two-era set.
