About Gunsmith Cats
Riding Bean is a 48 minute OVA from AIC and Artmic released February 1989, built around Bean Bandit, a courier driver framed for kidnapping. Only one episode was made after Sonoda split with Toshiba EMI, and the unfinished manga chapters later joined the Gunsmith Cats revised volumes.
Gunsmith Cats adapts Sonoda's manga in 3 OVA episodes from OLM, released November 1995 to September 1996. Rally Vincent and May Hopkins run a gun shop in Chicago and get blackmailed by ATF agent Bill Collins into a case. Bean returns as an ally and rival driver with the same Shelby energy.
Good to know
Watch Riding Bean first, then Gunsmith Cats. Release order matches the in world thread, since Bean's legend is set up in 1989 and paid off when he crosses Rally and May. The manga runs longer than the anime, but for animation only these two entries form the complete set with no further OVAs announced.
