About Gurren Lagann
Gurren Lagann follows Simon and Kamina drilling from underground villages to Anti-Spiral galactic war across twenty-seven episodes in 2007 at Gainax. The TV run ends on the Anti-Spiral finale with Simon's farewell to the team.
Gurren-hen from 2008 compiles the first half with twenty minutes of new footage, and Lagann-hen from 2009 compiles the second with a fully alternate ending. The films are an optional retelling rather than a sequel. Watch the TV series first for the complete arc, then take the films as a remix encore.

The TV series is the definitive telling at twenty-seven episodes. Both films compress with new animation and divergences, including the alternate Lagann-hen close. Parallel Works shorts and broadcast extras sit outside the main order. No sequel exists; the announced Imaishi project is original. Start with the 2007 TV run, then sample the films by taste.
