About Kindaichi Case Files

Kindaichi Case Files follows Hajime Kindaichi, a lazy teen with an inspector grandfather's genes, who solves locked room murders with Miyuki beside him. The anime spans the 148 episode 1997 run, two films, TV specials, and the 2014 R run with two seasons, all standalone cases with one method.

Watch in release order: the 1996 film, the 1997 series, the 1999 film, then R and R season two. Cases do not connect, so you can sample, but the 1997 run builds the regulars best. R updates the setting without rebooting, which is why it goes last rather than first.

There is no timeline to solve, because every case resets the board. The 1997 series carries most of the famous files, while R adapts newer manga with the same leads older.
