About Madoka Magica
Madoka Magica starts as a 12 episode TV run in 2011 where Madoka Kaname and Sayaka meet Kyubey and learn the cost of wishes. The Beginnings and Eternal films in 2012 retell that TV story as a two part recap. Rebellion in 2013 continues past the TV ending with Homura taking center.
Magia Record from 2020 to 2022 spins to Kamihama with Iroha and new magical girls in the same rules. Walpurgisnacht Rising is announced as the next film continuing Rebellion. Watch TV first, then Rebellion, with recaps optional and Magia Record after.
Good to know
Release order works because Rebellion assumes the TV ending shock. The two recap films add no new plot and can be skipped if you watched the 12 episodes. Magia Record shares the system but follows new leads, so watch it after Rebellion to avoid lore overlap. Walpurgisnacht Rising has no locked date as of this check and sits last with no year.
