About Magical Emi
Ten year old Mai Kazuki, from a family of struggling stage magicians, receives the Star Crest bracelet that transforms her into teen stage star Magical Emi. With flying squirrel sidekick Topo, Mai saves the family theater by blending real magic into Emi acts while hiding her identity. The early run covers the origin and the secret identity comedy.
The middle stretch follows TV exposure and rival magicians as performing as two people takes its toll. The closing run ends the TV story with the farewell performance, followed by the Finale OVA years later. Pierrot aired 38 episodes from 1985 to 1986, its second magical girl series. Watch the 38 TV episodes in broadcast order in three blocks, then the Finale OVA, since the TV farewell sets up the reunion the OVA delivers. Stage acts build on each other as Emi fame grows, so skipping breaks the escalation. No remake continues Mai story, so TV plus Finale is the complete canon.
