About Major
Major adapts Takuya Mitsuda's baseball manga about Goro Shigeno from little league to the majors. The six seasons aired from 2004 to 2010 with 154 episodes, tracking Goro through Mifune, Kaido, Seishu, the minors and the World Series against Gibson Jr. The Message film (2008) fits between seasons around the mother's arc.
Major 2nd follows Goro's son Daigo from 2018 with its own two seasons, assuming the original's ending. The manga finished the Goro story with 78 volumes, so the anime covers the complete arc with no gaps worth patching.
Good to know
Watch seasons one through six in broadcast order, fitting The Message after season three where its story sits. Goro's rivalries with Gibson Jr. and his shoulder injury span years, so skipping seasons breaks the payoff chain.
