About Mitsuru Adachi
Touch follows twins Tatsuya and Kazuya Uesugi and neighbor Minami Asakura through high school baseball, ending as a defining eighties sports romance across 101 episodes. H2 follows pitcher Hiro Kunimi and hitter Hideo Tachibana as childhood friends split by injury and school choice across 41 episodes in the nineties.
Cross Game adapts Adachi's later baseball story about Kou Kitamura and Aoba Tsukishima across 50 episodes in 2009 with a slower, quieter tone. Mix: Meisei Story continues the Touch universe at Meisei Academy with the Tachibana brothers in season 1 from 2019 and season 2 from 2023. Watch in release order, since each series stands alone.
Good to know
The adaptations stay faithful, so manga readers will find few surprises beyond voice acting and color. Touch runs longest and slowest, so some viewers sample its early episodes before committing. Cross Game earns its reputation as the most polished of the four, with a famous final stretch. Mix assumes fondness for the Meisei setting but explains itself for newcomers.
