About Moonlight Mile
After summiting Everest, Gorou and American climber Jack Woodbridge see the International Space Station and set a new goal in space. Studio Hibari adapted Yasuo Ohtagaki's seinen manga for WOWOW, tracking their parallel paths through astronaut selection, politics, and the Nexus project to mine Helium-3 on the moon. The tone is adult, technical, and political rather than light adventure.
Lift Off aired from February to May 2007 with 12 episodes. Touch Down followed from September to December 2007 with 14 episodes. The manga went on hiatus in 2011 and resumed on Pixiv in 2021, but the anime run is a closed two season story.
Good to know
Release order is the viewing order for Moonlight Mile. Lift Off sets up the characters and training, and Touch Down continues directly into lunar operations, so watching out of sequence would spoil setups and payoffs. There are no movies or OVAs to place, and both seasons stream as one 26 episode run under the same title.
