About Neon Genesis Evangelion

Shinji Ikari pilots Evangelion Unit-01 for NERV against the Angels in Tokyo-3. The TV run is 26 episodes from October 1995 to March 1996, closed by the film The End of Evangelion in July 1997.

Studio Khara's Rebuild tetralogy (2007 to 2021) starts as a remake and then branches into its own continuity. Watch it after the original, in release order, not mixed in.

Good to know

Evangelion: Death (True)2 is a recap of episodes 1 to 24 plus director's cut footage and can be skipped; it grew out of Death and Rebirth, released March 1997. Episodes 25 and 26 and The End of Evangelion give two tellings of the ending, so watch both, series then film. Rebuild home cuts carry 1.11, 2.22 and 3.33 labels; 3.0+1.0 closed the tetralogy on March 8, 2021.
